Nano Power Research Labs

Enhancing the performance of energy conversion and storage devices through the development of nanomaterials.

The NanoPower Research Labs (NPRL) at RIT are dedicated to the development of new materials and devices for power generation and storage for microelectronic components and micro-electromechanical systems (MEMS). The NPRL’s focus is to develop the materials and devices that are compatible with the current needs of a wide variety of microsystem technologies by exploiting the potential opportunities afforded through nanostructured materials and nanotechnology. Examples of targeted technologies include: carbon nanotubes for high-density storage in lithium ion batteries; semiconductor quantum dots for high-efficiency thin film solar cells and nanotube doped polymeric films for microelectronic PEM fuel cells.
